Description
Under the general direction of the Public Services Director or the Assistant Director(s) of Public Services, serves as a working field supervisor who directs, supervises, and physically works in the field with all other department employees and sub-contractor employees. Field operations include, but are not limited to, street reconstruction and maintenance, park maintenance, building maintenance, snow removal, tree maintenance, water system operations in conjunction with the Water Plant Operator, sanitary sewer system operations and maintenance, storm sewer maintenance, and vehicle equipment maintenance activities.

Requirements

- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training in public works, general maintenance, or related field is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess a State of Michigan D-3 and S-3 Operator Certification and must be able to obtain D-2 and S-2 Operator Certifications within 36 months.
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to maintain one throughout employment.
- Considerable knowledge of municipal Public Works operations, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, storm sewer collection systems, public street construction and maintenance, and grounds keeping operations.
- Considerable knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance; working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to perform the duties of department.
